Calcium carbonate can be classified into three main types based on production methods: ground calcium carbonate (GCC), precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), and nano calcium carbonate.
GCC is widely used in the foamed layer of PVC calendered synthetic leather. Its main functions are to increase volume, reduce cost, provide structural support, and optimize cell performance. Thanks to its low price and wide availability, it is the preferred choice for applications where mechanical properties are not strictly required.

PCC, with its fine particle size, tends to agglomerate. When applied to the surface layer of calendered leather, rigid sheets, and films, surface treatment is needed to minimize white spots and enhance compatibility with PVC. Its addition significantly improves product stiffness and hardness.
Nano calcium carbonate, with particle sizes ranging from 1 to 100 nm, offers outstanding reinforcement effects and surface gloss retention. In calendered products, especially films, its application is increasingly widespread, as it effectively enhances both mechanical performance and surface quality.

Selection Guide: For PVC calendered synthetic leather foamed layers or applications with low mechanical requirements, GCC is the ideal choice. For high-performance needs, PCC and especially nano calcium carbonate are more suitable, with nano calcium carbonate delivering superior performance.
